Want to tap into your inner artist? The Summer Session at the New York Studio School offers a unique opportunity to experience the intensity and rigor of the School’s exceptional curriculum, designed to parallel an artist’s normal working day in the studio. Summer programs are offered for both adults and high school students. NYSS welcomes students of all backgrounds and skill levels.
The Summer Session for adults is comprised of both two-week Marathons and longer “atelier” classes that focus on specific concentrations in either painting or sculpture. The internationally-recognized Marathons are intensive, all-day drawing, painting and sculpture programs that run for two weeks, immersing students in their chosen discipline. The atelier classes teach the essentials of art, both at the School and at sites around the city, in an environment closely mentored by teachers who are active practicing artists. Students may opt to take one of the five-week ateliers on its own, or the full seven-week path that includes both the Marathon and the atelier.
The New York Studio School Pre-College program offers an experimental, in-depth approach to drawing, painting and sculpture for students 14-18 over a three or four-week session. Students will discover their own potential as artists in a setting that integrates tradition and the present moment of art. The Program is designed to be fun and empowering for all, regardless of background or level of skill. For three or four weeks, teens will live as artists, experiencing New York as artists do: a city teeming with art and art debate!
