Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in the Village!

It's one of our favorite days of the year, Cinco De Mayo! We've pulled together a list of the some of the Village's best spots serving the finest margaritas to celebrate and honor the day!!

First, a brief history lesson on the history of Cinco De Mayo! The date commemorates the Mexican Army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza. The victory represented a significant morale boost to the Mexican army and the Mexican people at large, coming to symbolize national unity and pride for what seemed like a Mexican David defeating a French Goliath.

Now, about those bars…

Tortaria, 94 University Place

There are over 14 different margaritas on the menu including the 'Prickly Pear', the 'Bamba' and the 'Flakita' (skinny girl) made with spicy serrano peppers! They also have a great torta and taco menu!

El Cantinero, 86 University Place

A lively Mexican themed bar with endless bites and they'll make your margarita in any shape or form you desire!

Horchata de Neuva York, 470 Sixth Avenue

Margaritas are front and center on their menu and include Blood Orange, Jalapeno Cucumber and Guava! Check out their drinks menu here, and food menu here!

Loring Place, 21 West 8th Street

Hot newcomer to the Village, Loring Place, by ABC Kitchen star Dan Kluger feature their very own twist on the margarita made with Pasote Blanco Tequila.

Analogue, 19 West 8th Street

Quite simply one of the best cocktail bars in New York City, raise a "Guernica", their Altos Tequila based cocktail.

Greenwich Project, 47 West 8th Street

Their "East of Eden" cocktail with Tequila, Yellow Chartreuse, Basil and Ginger is a perfect nod to Cinco de Mayo, try mixing it with nibbles and hot sauce from their raw bar.
