Project Green
Project Green marks the Village Alliance’s first comprehensive streetscape initiative in over 20 years and aims to enhance sidewalks and plazas throughout Greenwich Village. We have a 30-year history of collaborating with businesses, institutions, and residents and have transformed public spaces in the Village through thoughtful landscaping and design.
Building on successes like the revitalization of Astor Place in 2016, this initiative will introduce more greenery to every corner of our district while addressing longstanding challenges.
Project Green has
two main gOALS.
To inform Project Green, the Village Alliance produced the 2025 District Needs Report, which breaks down the current state of streets in the Village.
In response to these challenges, Project Green aims to:
ENSURE PEDESTRIAN SAFETY
Bring Greenery to the district.
